While at the Birding Center in Port Aransas, TX, this afternoon, I came across this Northern Shoveler. It was a sunny, warm day (about 72 degrees), and he was sitting up on some reeds basking in the sunshine.
I like how orange his feet are, and that you can see his little toenails! Okay, so I’m pretty easily amused.

He is pretty, I like his black bill…and that you could see a neat fella on an everyday walk!
:-}pokey
Hi there – one of my favourite birds – used to see them a lot in the UK – but only one has ever been seen in Australia. So, I think I may get a bit excited if I find one any time soon!
Cheers – SM
Lovely close up.
I like his toenails too lol
Yep. For those of us with an avian foot fetish, this shot is heaven!
He’s a beauty!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Great close-up of the Northern Shoveler Drake Sue! We rarely get to see those bright orange feet, not to mention his toenails!
I don’t think that I have ever seen a northern shoveler up close. Nice shot! Thanks for participating in this weeks Tuesday Tweets.
Awesome closeup of the Shoveler. He is a pretty with with beautiful colors.
Great close-up photo of the Shoveler. Nice to see details – even his toenails!
