I had fun photographing the lunar eclipse last night, and I learned a bit along the way. Â Hopefully I will remember some of it for the next lunar eclipse in October…if we are lucky enough to have clear skies again!

I live in the southwestern corner of South Dakota. I was awake for a few minutes around 1:30 a.m., and I made myself get up to take a look at the moon. It had a sliver of bright white, but the rest was a murky, kind of gory reddish orange. I was too sleepy to stay up for more, but I’m glad I got to see even a few minutes of the spectacle. Thanks for posting your photos.
Lovely photos! I watched until about 11 pm PDT, but the eclipse had just started and the moon was quite hazy… photos in the paper this morning showed that by the time the eclipse was complete, the sky had cleared up, though. I just couldn’t make myself get up a 1 a.m. for it, so I’m happy to have people like you to show me how it looked!
