Tuesday’s Book Report

A new Kindle came to live at our house.  I bought it for Dear Jim, but we’re kind of sharing it.  I put a library book on it that would be a fast, easy read for me (because when your borrowing time is up, the book just disappears!)

Kindle:  I’m reading “Smokin’ Seventeen” by Janet Evanovich.

Audio Books:  I’m listening to “Blind Your Ponies” by Stanley Gordon West (last month’s book club selection)

And what I’m really working on yesterday and today is going through at least eight boxes of old paperwork that belonged to my parents.  They were “savers”.  I have eight boxes down to one box of tax info, family papers, things to save for a few more years.

There was everything from documents from 1880 to electric bills from the 1990s .  No wonder it was so daunting — over 100 years of documents.  *sneeze*

Whatcha Reading Tuesday

Royal Blood by Rhys Bowen

I finished reading (listening to) Rhys Bowen’s Royal Blood this morning.  This series is set in the depression of the ’30s and revolves around Lady Georgiana, a distant cousin to King George V.  Although royal, her family has no money.  Lady Georgie is young and pretty, of course, and loves solving mysteries (or trying, anyway).

It’s fun reading, light, and pretty fanciful.  This is the second book in this Royal Spyness series I’ve read, and I will read another.  It’s a fun easy read for the beach.

The Secret Life of Bees

Last week I asked which book I should get next from my wish list:   The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, Angela’s Ashes, The Secret Keeper, or the Secret Life of Bees.  Thank you for the comments, and I do plan to read all of them.  I chose the Secret Life of Bees and will start it this week.  I think every book received a vote (some by comment, some by e-mail), and that tells me they are all good choices!  Thank you for your input.

PS:  I’m going to be in Paula Nadelstern’s kaleidoscope class next week, so if you’re a fan of Paula, as I am, be sure to check back!

Whatcha Reading…with Judy Laquidara

Judy L added another Linky day…Whatcha Reading on Tuesdays…and I’m trying hard to remember to post.

Like Vicki W, I “read” with my ears.  Vicki said that on her blog, and I love that phrase.  Since I started listening to audio books, it’s revived my love of reading!

This week I’m still reading a bit of fluff:  Royal Flush by Rhys Bowen, a Royal Spyness Mystery.  It’s narrated by Katherine Kellgren, and she does an excellent job.

I have a credit with Audible and I’m contemplating which book on my Wish List I should get next…  The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, Angela’s Ashes, The Secret Keeper, or the Secret Life of Bees.  Which one would you choose?
