Monday’s Progress Report

Wool:

I’m just about done with this nice little candle mat designed by Buttermilk Basin.  All I have left is to blanket stitch around the outer edge.

Knitting:

I’m still working on my knitted Cane Bay wrap:

Purses:

I just finished up a handbag called “Gabby” by bag designer Janelle MacKay of Emmaline Bags.  Right now, the bag is only available as part of a six-month subscription with the Bag of the Month Club.  I believe when the subscription is over (July or so), the patterns will be offered individually.  This bag finished at 12″ W, 10″ H, and 3″ deep.

Here’s another sunrise photo I took in Port Aransas, TX, this winter.  This one was taken February 14th — Valentine’s Day — and my dear Hubster got up in the dark with me to help me watch the sunrise.  Taken with the use of a tripod and delayed shutter.  All together now:  awwwww….

That’s it for now.  This week I’m going to make a small carry-on bag for a trip that’s coming up.

Monday’s Progress Report

I’ve done a lot of sewing since I last checked in with you.  I’ve made a few more of the Diva Frame Wallets:

Diva Wallets - 3

Diva Wallets - 3bDivia Wallet CollectionI also did a January purse called the Backgammon Bag, designed by Betz White.  It is part of a purse of the month subscription, but the pattern will be available for individual purchase I think in July.  I liked the pattern very much, but I am going to remake it using a foam interfacing.  It is too floppy for my taste, but it is a nice bag!

Work around the condo included re-covering the seats of our dinette chairs (does anybody use the word “dinette” any more???)  And sorry, weird color in this shot.  It was at night, and I couldn’t get it to look natural.

Some of my favorite images taken in Texas this winter were part of a series of sunrise shots.  My goal was to take 30 days of sunrises.  HAH!  I’m a night owl by nature, and I could only manage 10 or 11.  A sampling:

Design-Wall Monday

And I don’t have a design wall in either sewing space, so here are this week’s blocks…on the floor.

Kaffe quilt blocks

Yes, the colors are really this vibrant!  I tried to make it as accurate as possible.  Please note that I don’t have the horizontal light turquoise sashing strips inserted yet.  I just laid this out for fabric placement, and I will add the sashing strips as I sew the rows together.

The pattern is from Rowan and it’s called Jewel Frames Quilt.  You may have seen this quilt before, as it’s available as a kit on Craftsy (prices vary…watch for a kit sale).  The kit includes the pattern; (I couldn’t find the pattern for sale separately.)  Kaffe Fassett fabric, every bit of it is gorgeous, is from the Kaffe Collective for Rowan.  Finished size, about 78″ x 78″.

On the photography front, an image from this week:
