A Ducky Puzzle

I think this is a female Northern Shoveler…but I could be wrong because I’m never certain about the females.  She has a pretty big beak though, which looks like a shoveler.

She had just taken a sip of water and was “tossing it back”.  I haven’t done a puzzle for a while, and I know Judy S. looks for them, so here you go, Judy!  (Click on the puzzle to play.)

Wednesday’s Puzzle

I haven’t done a puzzle for a while, and I never know or can tell if anyone does them or not.

A recently discovered cousin (whom I haven’t yet met in person) told me recently how much she likes the puzzles, so I thought I should get back in the habit of posting them!  Here is  a handsome duck (from our recent trip to the Texas Gulf) waiting for you to put him back together again.  (Click anywhere on the puzzle to begin.)

Wednesday’s Puzzle

I’ve really enjoyed the wildflowers behind our house.  Every year they are a different slice of nature.  Last year there was more of the orange butterfly weed.

This year there are a lot of cone flowers, pickerel weed, asters, and (what look like) daisies.  It’s no wonder the butterflies, birds, bugs, and bees have made this their playground.  Click on the picture below to begin the puzzle:

Wednesday’s Puzzle

Things have been busy at our house.

Redecorating plans have lead to a new color scheme which has lead to a lot of accessories (plums and pinks) not working in our house any more.  Which has lead me to selling on ebay.  Fun!  I sold six out of seven items last week.  Ebay makes it so easy, you can print the label with postage right at your own computer, and if it’s Priority Mail, you can schedule a pick-up by your mail carrier. I didn’t have to step foot into our too-busy post office.

Time to take time out for a puzzle!  Our crab apple blossoms are long gone, but they were gorgeous while they were here.  And for a different twist, you can practice your knowledge on the shapes of the lower 48 states.  Click on the puzzle to begin.  Good luck!

Puzzle Wednesday

I thought I would do a quilty puzzle, since you’ve about been birded to death by my bird pix.  This is one of my favorite quilts, which hangs about the open staircase to the lower level.  (My original plan was to switch to a different quilt in this location with the seasons, but it’s so much trouble (and danger for DH) to get up high enough to hang a quilt here, that I think it’s this one forever!)  Sorry it’s sideways, but that’s the way it has to be in the puzzle.  I can see you all tilting your heads to the left!

By the way, this is a Kaye Wood pattern.  I think it’s probably out of print — I couldn’t find the book on line.

If it’s a Wednesday…

then it’s time for a puzzle!  Did you ever notice how really RED Cardinals are?  Even their beaks are red.  We are seeing more cardinals at our feeder this spring, and it’s fun to see them up close and personal, although they are very skittish and the least bit of movement inside the window sends them back to the woods.

Wednesday’s Puzzle

A Port Aransas, TX, memory of the sea gulls gathering on the pilings.  I took this picture from my car while waiting for the ferry to take me to the other side of the ship channel.  And as a puzzle:

Today’s Puzzle

It’s springtime, and everybody’s hungry.  In the past two weeks, I’ve seen the following at our bird feeder or eating the crab apples in the same tree:  Cardinals, a Squirrel, Robins, Squirrel, Red-Winged Blackbirds, Squirrel, House Finches, Squirrel, Brown-Headed Cowbirds, Squirrel, Chickadees, Squirrel, Dark-Eyed Juncos…and a rat in a fur coat:

But it’s been worth putting up with the rat when I see one of my invited guests, a female or juvenile House Finch:

So here she is as a puzzle — a little bit more challenging than the traditionally cut puzzle pieces.  Try out this tessellating bird cut.  Click anywhere on the puzzle to begin.

Wednesday is Puzzle Day

While we were in Texas, it was really interesting to see these big birds, Great Blue Herons, many feet up off the ground in their nests in trees.  It’s even more fun to see them as pairs, tending their nests.

Click anywhere on the puzzle to solve.  After all, we have to keep this couple together!

Wednesday’s Puzzle

Where's my drink order?

On our way back from Texas, we stopped to see SIL Grace and BIL Ronnie.  I love their cat Sampson.  He was out on the patio, and it looked like he was wondering where his Tuna Marguerita with extra catnip was.  Good service is so hard to find.  Here is Sampson as a puzzle:
