These DWM posts really remind me how quickly a week goes by!
Up on the quilting machine today is the 1600 quilt  top I showed last week:
I found a piece of fabric in my stash that will work beautifully for the back. Â It’s a blue and green large floral. Â I’m going to do an overall pantograph in a lush feather design. Â (I’ll add a photo later today when I have some progress to show.)
Last week I went to the Minnesota State Fair with some quilting buds.  It is always fun to look for your own items  and see how they did, so if you aren’t a “fair enterer”, you might want to consider it for next year.  It adds an extra dimension of fun.
Remember the Minnesota quilt I completed this past spring? Â 5th place in the Commemorative Quilt category. Â The pattern is a slightly adapted Judy Laquidara Bears in the Farmhouse quilt-along.
I was pleased to find that my blue/gray Bow Tucks bag got a red ribbon (2nd place) in it’s category.
But the big surprise was in the Bee & Honey division where I entered my felted wool bee pin (pattern HERE):
(I pinned it to a small picture frame for display purposes.) Â I received a blue ribbon for the “Wearables” category, and according to the Bee & Honey web site, and I also received sweepstakes for bee art. Â They didn’t put the sweepstakes ribbons out yet, so I’m a little wary.
A side note on the pin:  The button in the center is an antique metal button with a bee  shape in the center.  I purchased this button at the Minnesota button collectors’ show earlier this summer.  This pin makes a fun way to feature a special button that you may have.
And for a photo outside of quilting…
Last night there was quite a light show in the sky of what I’ve heard called “heat lightning”. Â It was going on in the clouds to the NE of us, and was far enough away that we could hear no thunder.
That’s it for now! Â Pop on over to Judy L’s blog to see what other quilters are doing.
Congrats on all the honors!
Congratulations! I love the Bee pin. Oh and your quilt is beautiful too!
