Good morning, World!

I definitely have been out of the blogging mode for the past couple of months!  I blame Facebook (for being so easy to post to), but it’s probably more related to the amount of time my new camera and the 365 Project take up (the bird button on my right sidebar connects to my 365 photos).  Sometimes I spend half a day of getting photos, uploading and editing them, etc.  So let me catch you up things around here!

We are enjoying the sometimes lovely, sometimes nearly freezing-to-death weather of the Texas Gulf coast.  Unfortunately, today is a very cold day, but the upside is (according to the long-range forecast), it should be our LAST cold day!

This is a Reddish Egret, white morph.

The birding has been awesome this year.  A brown pelican on take-off:

I am doing more knitting than sewing, and I’m working on the second fingerless mitt (Susie’s Fingerless Reading Mitts).  These will be great for photography on cold days.  I also finished a scarf done in plain garter stitch (not worth a photo)…

I will be starting a quilt mystery through our Community Ed at home.  I have three clues now, so I am a bit behind, but I’ve ordered the fabric from Rosebud’s Cottage, and it should arrive any day.  Can’t wait to show you…it will be gorgeous!  I think.  Well, it’s a MYSTERY!

We have a group of ladies here at the condo that will be starting a project together on Thursday.  We will be doing Mary Mittelstadt’s lovely felted pins.  I’ve been wanting to make one of Mary’s patterns for a while.  She writes very complete directions, and the patterns are beautiful.  Here is some of my wool felt washed (shrunk and “felted”) and ready to go:

We have been watching Seasons 1-3 of Downtown Abbey (on DVDs) with two other couples.  We are about halfway through Season 3, so we will be able to watch Season 4 the next time it’s aired, and be ready for Season 5 next winter!  All six of us are totally hooked and really enjoying this series.

I got a FitBit and made some changes in my lifestyle, but I’ll save that for another post.

Party tonight — 50’s style sock hop!  I don’t have a poodle skirt but will make do with tennies, bobbie sox, capris, and a little neck scarf.  And definitely a sweater!

Off to Corpus Christi with a friend this morning for the stitcher’s trifecta:  Hobby Lobby, Joanns, and Michael’s.  Perfect way to spend a cold day!
