Design Wall Monday

Judy Laquidara is having a monochromatic challenge in 2011.  January’s challenge color was yellow, and I did participate in that one.  (The quilt below did get finished and given away, but I like this unfinished picture better.  It must be the beach.)  And in case you’re wondering, the pattern is Terry Atkinson’s Urban Cabin.

Monochromatic Challenge - Yellow

The next two months, I skipped…mostly because I was away from my stash and didn’t want to buy more fabric.  Then I skipped April because it was orange, and I didn’t have much orange fabric to work with.

Judy announced that the color for May is RED!  Woo-hoo!!!

I bought some hand-dyed fabrics from Vicki Welsh two or three months ago in shades of red (click HERE for a link to her ETSY shop, and try not to drool on your keyboard).  I absolutely love this colorway, and I’ve been saving it hoping red would be one of Judy L’s color challenges.

I’ve not settled for sure on a pattern yet, but it will be something easy and lap sized.  And maybe with black for extra *pop*.  And definitely for me!

To really get into the mood for a quilt in shades of red, here are a couple of totally NQR pictures I took yesterday:

Be sure to pop over to Judy L’s Patchwork Times to see what other quilters have been up to this week!

  1. Beautiful NQR pictures. Perhaps you should use your reds on a “red bird” pattern. There are lots of them out there. Love your first photo of your yellow quilt at the beach! That spot sure looks inviting. Sandi
