I’m participating in Judy L’s UFO Challenge for 2011. My #6 project (#6 was drawn for January) is my cowboy boots quilt. It will have some hearts thrown in and maybe a few stars. These are really special blocks to me, as each one was done by a different quilter in my Wednesday stitching group.
I have started sewing the wonky blue setting strips and trimming the blocks down to size. I’m about halfway done with this process. I really like how the blocks are looking!
As I get a little further along, I will need to decide how many star and heart blocks I want to add. It can either be a wall hanging or a throw-sized quilt. I’m leaning towards a wall hanging for my quilting room, but I don’t need to decide today! It will be framed with red prairie points and then a darker blue border.
After a week of mostly cold and rain, our weather in TX is taking a turn for the pretty darn good! We had a brief glimpse of sunshine Sunday, with more promised on Monday. I missed checking out the birds, so I dressed for rain and went to the Birding Center on Saturday. Dumb. You don’t get very good pix in the rain, especially when you’re trying to keep your camera dry, but I did manage to get a couple I liked. First up are two green-winged teal sitting on a branch. Out of the water. In the rain.
And I don’t see these Common Moorhens very often, and they are so interesting looking. Their beak looks like a piece of Halloween candy corn.
That’s it from here. How are you doing this week? To check out other design walls (or floors!), be-bop on over to Judy L’s blog.
