My favorite day of the week — especially when I have something to show!
I decided I better exercise my Applique’ Muscles before they atrophy and I forget EVERYTHING I learned in Pam B’s applique class, taken last year. I found something I could be excited about: Moda U’s 2007 mystery basket quilt. Okay, it’s not a mystery any more because it’s almost 2011! It will have 15 different baskets with flowers, and there are lots of filler blocks (flying geese, little baskets, etc.).
I purchased the block kits individually from Quilt Cove in Eagan (they still have the full set of block kits and patterns). This is Block #2. I love these blocks because they are partially pieced, which is something I’m comfortable with. I’m hoping that after doing 15 of these blocks, I will be more comfortable with the “A” word too.
I’ve been admiring Terry Atkinson’s “Urban Cabin” pattern, and decided to kit it up for myself, using similar colors. Joanns had FQs for 99 cents, so I decided to use their fabrics for this one. I need to add some darker turquoises, which I think I can find in my own stash!
We are plowed out, but not shoveled out from the front door. We rarely to never get snow against this door, as it’s very protected in a corner with an overhang. There’s just so much snow everywhere…and it’s now -1 degrees. Heat wave! It was -7 when I got up this morning.
This must be a good day to sew!
