This week completed our sixth and final month of exchanging our quilt boxes.
How it works: Back in June, seven of us each put together a plastic tote of fabrics and either patterns or a theme. Each month you took home a different box to make a block for that person’s quilt.
As an example: Earlier this year, I had a wonderful collection of turquoises and greens given to me by my friend Carol. (Earlier this year, I also gave away an identical set of FQs on this blog.) For my pattern, I chose the sampler blocks in the book Quilts! Quilts! Quilts! by Diana McClun and Laura Nownes. Here are the first six blocks that I received back after six months of exchanging:
I was going to run this box for another six months next year, but I think I will complete the remaining blocks myself — just so I can plan the placement of the blocks and get a balance of colors in the end result. Thank you, Carol F., Pam B., Arlis, Kate, Jan, and Candice! I love my blocks.
