As you can see, I’m kind of in the middle of changing the look of my site. I’ve “auditioned” three new themes that I’ve liked, but they all have “issues” of one kind or another — no drop-down menu at the top to navigate to other pages plus I hate how the date and post title look on this one a previous one (but I really like the yellow), a column that’s too wide on another theme that’s a nice tan, and a third theme I liked real well but it has a dark background (really dark) and the little icons by the comments weren’t working quite right (and that’s this one). I’ll probably go with #3, but I need to play around with it some more tomorrow.
DS#1 who’s the real web master of this site (I just know enough to get into trouble) said he can change some things to customize it for me, so I’ll have check things out a bit more and see which one I like the best. This much thinking can’t be good for me!

Good Luck on changing your web site look. So many choices. Today I have been getting caught up on my blog reading. Have been busy having fun on Padre Island and Port A. We got here last Fri and are leaving in the morning. Checked out your favorite birding spots. By the way, congrats on the ribbons. Look forward to seeing your entries.

The current background is to wide. I can’t tell what bit says on the left side of the screen. I think you need more bright RED and other bright colors. This one is a little to dark.

Hi, Patrick. That’s the way the theme is set up in the WordPress version. I can see the little red tabs better on the Blogger version, and they are the date, but WordPress chose to almost totally crop them out — that wasn’t possible to have within the screen in any way, shape or form as what shows is what’s available in WordPress.
I agree, the color is too dark, but it has all the features I like, and the light ones I tried were skimpy on the features or had not been as thoroughly tested as this theme and had more consumer complaints about them (this is one of WordPress’s top downloads, used by tens of thousands and is very well tested). I was leery of using one that only had a small number of downloads. So I chose features over aesthetics.
Regarding the lack of bright colors, I’m okay with quiet colors, given the number of photos I post. I’ll probably revisit the theme selection again this winter and see what else is out there, unless this one grows on me. Thanks, Patrick!
PS: I was a little s-l-o-w to get your “RED” reference. I know everything, trucks and shirts included, are certainly better looking in red! There is a red option for this theme, but it’s red tabs on black and I wasn’t too keen on it. But for trucks? Aces!!!
