Photoshop Elements 8

Does anybody out there in blogland have experience (good or bad) with Photoshop Elements 8?

I’m looking for a photo & video editor.  I downloaded the free 30-day trial of PSE8, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth spending the time to learn how to use all the features.

Does anyone have another program they like?

  1. Hey Sue,

It’s worth it!!! I have Photoshop, the regular full version, and PaintShopPro (its called something else now, I bought it a few years back) and I have used PSE8. PSE8 is a simple program to use once you learn your way around all the different options and so on. There are hundreds of online tutorials for it, you can also follow the paintshoppro tutorials in pse8, there is not a big difference between the 2 programs, other than a little price difference. I highly recommend any of these programs for photo editing!!!

  2. Oh and I forgot to mention another program which is free!! Picasa, which is a google software, but if your just wanting something for minor photo editing, then this program is prefect!!

  3. I use it Sue. I have both PSE and PSPremier elements (for video editing.) I have been using these since the first versions came out and upgrade to each new one. Once you learn your way around them, they are pretty easy and the results are great.

  4. Hi!

I have this progam. So does Tracy and several of my neighbors. I do a ton of editing on it and like it a lot. You do have to use it on a consistant basis to learn it well. I’m constantly seeing new things to try and do and there’s tons of help on the internet to get info. It’s a lot of playing around. But, when you do find things on the internet relating to photo editing, I would say that 90% of the instructions are for PSE or Photoshop.

  5. I use Elements 7 (I think) and I love it. I will likely upgrade soon. It’s very easy to use one you figure out where everything is.

  6. Sue,
A good friend of mine recommends this book, Photoshop CS4 After the Shoot, (Paperback)
~ Mark Fitzgerald. Since this is her brother she may be prejudiced. It is on Amazon. I believe it is his 4th book (CS4)? So it may be a good resource.

  7. I use Elements (7 I think) for photos, and I’ve used the video portion a bit, but I’m not that comfortable with it. I used to have Roxio for video editing and I really like that program. It’s not one stop shopping then (I don’t know if Roxio does photo editing) but you might look into it?
