The day has nearly slipped away and I’m just getting my design wall pictures up. This is JudyL’s latest Quilt For An Hour, Freeze Frame. The outside row of blocks aren’t attached yet, and there are three more borders yet to come.
Next is my project for my Achievable Applique class I’m taking. I’m doing a Lori Smith pattern. My homework was to piece the border rows, and also prep the applique pieces. The center area will have a vase and flowers. Class is tomorrow and I’m ready! This little quilt will finish at 16″ x 20″.
I have one of the placemats done from the tutorial found here, Shelly’s tutorial using Cedar Canyon Textiles. I painted the fabric with oil paint sticks and a texture rubbing plate under the fabric. It was fun to do, not very messy. I will be making more of these to match, once I get the rest of the fabric painted.
It will be fun to show you some of the applique on the little wall hanging, once I get some applied. Or maybe not. Applique and I have never been close personal friends. We’re scarcely even nodding acquaintances.
My friend Pam is teaching the class, and besides being a wonderful quilter, she is also an excellent teacher. I really feel fortunate to be able to take this class. I will always be a piecer at heart, but it would be nice to be able to applique on occasion and feel like I know what I’m doing!

You’ve been busy! That purple fabric you used in your placemat is the exact fabric that my classmate in the Paula Nadelstern class used in her kaleidoscope today.
Your Freeze Frame is looking really good!
Love the colors on your freeze frame. Actually I love the colors on everything!
