Wednesday’s Puzzle

College22

Of course it has to be an Alaska picture!  These were some large pieces of ice that had calved off of one of the glaciers.  They were probably the bluest pieces I saw.  You haven’t had a puzzle for a couple of weeks, so this one should be a little bit challenging.  Good luck!

Telephoto Tuesday

Well, today was a quandary — I just finished dumping dozens of photos on you in the last week and now it’s time to feature a photo!  So I thought I would share some of the pictures I wouldn’t ordinarily share with friends, much less with friends I haven’t met!

There’s just something about a statue of any sort that just begs me to stand by it and have a photo taken; DH is always more than willing to indulge this quirk.  So today I’m displaying that particular weirdness in a photo collage.

And I’m not really hung over in these pictures.  I guess that’s the way I look.  (I really thought I looked better/younger/thinner than that.  It must be the camera.)

Design Wall Monday

I really like this Design Wall Monday theme that Judy Laquidara hosts.  It’s become my favorite post of the week (along with UFO Thursday), partly because I think back over what I’ve accomplished in the past week, and what’s waiting for me in the next week.  Both Monday’s and Thursday’s posts are production related.

Design Wall0001

On the left-hand side of my design wall:  There’s still the Asian BOM blocks waiting patiently along the left-hand side.  I think I’m a block/month behind.  (So much for production!)

In the middle of my design wall:  I’m getting some work done on my 9-patch quilt from Amandajean’s site; I have all the blocks done, and I’m sewing sashing pieces to the sides.  I have the 20 blocks with sashing attached on the wall, and have two 10-block stacks pinned up there to grab and stitch when time permits this week.

In the lower right corner of my design wall:  I’m working on Judy L’s Shine on Bayou Cane blocks (a UFO from last fall).  I want to get eight more blocks finished by Thursday (24 done so far), so I have those pinned along the right-hand side as a reminder that I have homework!

On the Gammill is a Lucky Stars quilt (Terri Atkinson pattern) made from fabrics bought on our Alaskan trip five or so years ago.  ANOTHER UFO!!!  I’m telling you, they are everywhere!!!  (I will share a picture of that on UFO Thursday.)  DH’s birthday is in a couple of weeks, and this quilt is for him.

I finished a pinwheel block for our box exchange, but because I won’t be there Wednesday for the exchange, I had to hand it off early.  Good thing I took a picture!  She requested a variety of pinwheels, so I tried this one I found in EQ that has some curved seaming:

Box Carol

This was a fun little block to make (it will be 6 1/2″ finished); I just wouldn’t care to do a whole quilt of this block!

Sunday’s Stash-Busting Report

Today’s stash report covers the past two Sundays as well (vacation).  I was quite restrained in my shopping while on vacation, considering I visited five quilt shops in Alaska.  I purchased a small panel and a little yardage that had an Alaska theme totaling 3.5 yards.  I did see some black and red fabrics that were so beautiful, I nearly caved.  I only have a little bit of non-buyer’s regret, but I’ll get over it.  (As Pam B says, “They will still be making fabric tomorrow.)  Ooooh, and I did place a teensy, weensy, small, itty-bitty smidgen of an order at Vicki Welsh’s Etsy shop, but I will count that when it comes in (her work is so pretty).

On the usage end of the fabric bolt — nada.  I did some sewing this week, but mostly on an existing project.  I did make a small Santa ornament at Featherweight Club this week, but that took so little fabric — I have more threads clinging to my black pants than were in the fabric used…so…

  • YTD 162.5 yards in (purchased)
  • YTD Net:  24 yards IN
  • YTD Goal:  75 yards out

(and a little ps:  my late night/early morning surprise give-away winners are Floribunda, Karen J, Lynda G & Robin.

and a pps:  This past week I did a 7-day travelogue on this blog of our Alaskan cruise, so if you’d like to check out the sights in Alaska, it’s in my posts starting on July 27th and continuing through August 1st.)

    60,000

is a lot of “hits” on this humble blog, and I just passed that number this evening.  I will send a little surprise to the first three people to leave a comment for me with a way to get hold of you.  I don’t know what the surprise is yet, as I just decided to throw this out on the blog when I saw 60,029 on my counter tonight.

And if you’re not a quilter and you’d like to comment, that’s fine too — I’ll send you something non-quilty that you might like!

To all you blogger friends out there, thanks for stopping by, whether it’s every day, once in a while, or you just stumbled into this blog today for the first time.  Blogging wouldn’t be any fun at all for me if there was no one out there reading it.

Let’s see who’s home and on the computer on a Saturday night besides me!!!

(If you haven’t commented on my blog before, your comment will be held in moderation.  I will take that into consideration and award surprises to the first three published comments, plus any awaiting moderation that came in before the 3rd published comment.)
