I found this Fruit Ladies fabric last spring/summer, and it just made me laugh. I guess some people find it offensive, but, maybe because I identify with the “apple-bottomed” ladies, this fabric tickled me. I had quite a number of FQs of fruit fabric, so I put together a plan — baskets of fruit, no-applique style! The fruit is cut into 8″ squares (four from a FQ). I did some 4-Patch Posy type of blocks with the Fruit Ladies overall print, and I inserted a few of those into a few of the fruit squares.

Then I found the stripe on another shopping trip. I hadn’t planned on a border, but who could resist? This is going to be an in-the-trunk quilt for picnics, trips to the beach, etc., so it will get some kind of meander or all-over treatment for quilting. Nothing fancy, but it makes me smile every time I pull it out to work on it!

I think it’s hysterical that one of the ladies has a lower back tattoo…
OMG That is just TOO CUTE!!!! Probably a good thing they don’t have all the fabrics left lol.

Great use of the fruit ladies. I think every lady can relate, and that’s why some find it offensive!
