Pay It Forward

(NOTE:  There is still a slot open for one more PAY IT FORWARD participant.  Read about the conditions below, and if you’d like to pay it forward, leave me a comment!  –Sue)

Julie K had the nicest offer on her site:  the first three interested people to respond would receive something handmade from her in the next year; in return, those three people would also post a Pay It Forward offer on their blog.  All in the interest of making the world a happier place!  I couldn’t resist.  I have found quilters to be very generous people, and that is especially true of blogging quilters.

So here it is.  I am extending a Pay It Forward offer to the first three responders to this post (a handmade gift from me in the next year).  You must also indicate that you are willing to pay it forward with the same offer on your blog (sorry, but this will only work if you also have a blog).  So what do you think?  Are there any takers out there???

Sue

PS:  I won’t make you wait a year for your surprise!

    Morning, Sue,
I was checking in and had a question for you but find your “Pay it Forward” offer very interesting. I have seen this on other blogs and like the concept so count me in!! Now, here’s my question - I am getting ready to start my Judy L. star blocks and since you have made them, have you had any difficulties with the 1/16″ seams she talks about? I am so bad at 1/4″ seams that I am now a little spooked about having to do 1/16″ seams - or maybe I read something wrong? Your blocks turned out so nice and I want mine to look as good as your’s do. I have this Sandy Gervais patriotic fabric that I plan to use but it took me a while to find it. We still have several boxes that are not unpacked and it’s soon going to be two years since we moved here!

    Hi, Sandi:

I will also respond to you privately, but just a note on the 1/16th inch mentioned. It is all done with 1/4″ seams, but some of the measuring/cutting is on the 1/16th. I haven’t had a problem, once I got the hang of it. My ruler(s) only have measurements down to the 1/8″, so I just position the fabric edge I’m measuring from exactly in the middle of that 1/8″ space — so if it’s 3/16ths, I would position it between the 1/8th (2/16ths) and 1/4″ (4/16ths) = 3/16ths. Just take your time in measuring and cutting and you’ll be fine!

I enjoyed the wool socks. Donavan’s wife, Vanessa, is knitting socks for Christmas. She started in hot, stinky, Aug. so was really brave, but has a lot of socks to knit. There’s 7 in her family.
